Two 1930s Trials Bikes Pictures

Many thanks to Andy Breeden for this atmospheric picture.  Can anyone tell me what the two bikes are?  I would agree with Dave Vintner that the rear bike looks like a BSA (from it’s pushrod tunnel).  Dave also thinks that the first bike may be an AJS, but is puzzled by the hand gearchange and front brake.

  1. Rear is a BSA b26 or b21, judging by the fuel tank a 37 or 38 model, definatly an ajs at the front, as for hand gear change etc it was quite common for guys in those days to make specials, or bitzas
