Many thanks to John Carpenter for submitting this picture.  It is taken from a glass slide in Loughborough public library.  Many thanks to them for permission to post this picture. He has been helped by local archives in identifying who first registered the vehicles, but is interested to know more about the bikes themselves.  The registration shows: "The vehicle was a 2 3/4hp cycle, ‘Excelsior’ registered on 17 Feb 1904 to a George J. Cook of Lime Villas, Nottingham Road, Mansfield. The entry is annotated with the comment that the registration became void on 3 Mar 1905 as the cycle was sold, but no notice was given as to its transfer. The registration mark was used a further 4 times, all in the Mansfield area." And thanks also to HOward of Australia for the following comments "it’s certainly pre 1912 (has an “Open Bosch” magneto) and it is different to my 1909 v twin REX so based on that alone I would say 1910 /11".
