Phil Heath on AJS R10 Pictures

image

A lovely old picture sent in by a regular (and much appreciated!) contributor to the site, Andy Breeden.  And thanks to Dave Vintner for identifying it as an AJS. And further thanks to Christian Gyde for indentifying it as an AJS consisting of late 20′ies parts, a typical grass track job. The frame looks like AJS light weight frame as used in various forms 1929-1935, while the engine is a bit earlier with its exposed rocker gears. And also thanks to Pat Neal for this fantastic identification: “The rider is Phil Heath, ex continental circus racer and vmcc stalwart [he had the same expression whatever he was riding]. The bike is an ex-factory AJS r10 overhead cam belonging to Mike Vangucci and the venue was Royston hillclimb, a regular feature in the sixties run and organised by my father, ex factory Scott racer, Ossie Neal…Hope this helps…..Pat
