Thanks to Paul for this fascinating picture. "The early bike is a 1923 Cotton Dart. The Dart engine was made by A A Sidney of the Osmond engineering co, Later to be taken over or become the Bristol Aero co. The drive to the overhead camshaft is by chain. As far as we known this is the only one of its type – unless anyone knows otherwise…? The second Cotton is a 250cc TT Bike originally fitted with a Cross Rotary valve engine but smoked so much in practice that a Jap was fitted for the race. This bike was raced and owned by Les Martin from the Isle of Man, and bought in bits from his estate . If the 250 Rotary Cross engine is still out there it would be nice to know."
