A very interesting old picture sent in by Andy Breeden.  It shows an early 1920′s 676cc Martinsyde V Twin machine featuring their own exhaust over inlet engine.  Martinsyde were a former aircraft factory that built bikes between 1919 and 1925.

Hi Nigel, I think this is an old picture of Peter Adorian’s 1921 Martinsyde, FB2799 which I am currently trying to put back together. Peter bought the bike as a student in 1951 and used it to commute regularly from his Sussex home to Cambridge University, a journey of 210 miles he recalls, with no problems. He sold the bike and then bought it back in dismantled form in the late sixties, and it has remained so since. The Best and Lloyd oil pump was an addition of his own along with drum braked wheels.
    Cheers Rick
