This photo is of the Ex Tommy Spann Racing AJS over head cam taken at a meeting in the early 80s. The story is that Tommy was courting the owner of the AJS factory and was allowed to build a racing bike out of any parts available. He was known for sporting a Yellow and Black striped jumper at the time.   When the photo was taken the bike belonged to the well known rider Bill Burton who had started to restore the bike sometime in the distant past, and had the frame galvanised! There was never a coat of paint applied and the bike was raced from then on as per the photo.  The AJS in the rear of the photo is a proper 1933/4 racing OHC AJS also owned by Bill. Thanks to Paul for the photo.
