A 175cc 1968 Bridgestone. I don’t know how many Bridgestones were made, but you don’t see many around – apart from on the Malmesbury Classic Motorcycle Club stand at the 2005 Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show in Stafford that is. There were 14 there!.

I was told by a friend who owned a 175cc in 1970, that because they were so successful Bridgestone had made a deal with the other Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, to go out of motor bike manufacturing in exchange for having exclusive rights to supply tyres to all new motorbikes made by those manufacturers. I don’t remember having seen any other brand on Jap bikes from new?
