  1. Hi Geoff, love your pic. of the Bantam. I was telegram boy from 54-56 before going into the army. Loved every minute of it. I was at Chatham in Kent and we covered a large rural area. Tried to tell my mates but they are far to young. Still riding ( SUZUKI V STROM) and arrived back from S. Africa yesterday, great trip.

Hello Geoff. Like you I have just restored a GPO Bantam. I delivered telegrams during 1955 to 1958 from Forest Gate E London. What office were you from? Alan.

  3. Hello to all ex.GPO telegram boys. ( Junior postman )
I was at Chatham in Kent with Jonny Button from 53-56. We had a couple of BSA c10s and 98cc Royal Enfields with gear change on the tank. Went over to D1 and D3s. Great job and started me on a lifelong love of bikes and am still riding and touring today.
I was in S.Africa on my Vee Strom earlier this and met a load of S A bikers who were fascinated by my tales of telegrams.
I am going back in Jan. and have been invited to give a talk to this bike club about the service.
Has any one got any photo,s or stuff connected to the job that will help me make the talk more interesting. I am willing to pay postage and everything will be returned. Great days.
Best wishes , Alan Scully. contact me 01676-533871 Kenilworth West Midlands.
