1949 Matchless G80s with a 1946 G80 engine, rebuilt from a total scrap heap.

Many thanks to Ted Bunday for these before and after pictures of his Matchless. Quite a remarkable transformation from an AJS….! I’ll check this with Ted as I think perhaps the wrong picture may have been sent!

And here is the explanation!

Hi Nigel
The engine is an Matchless G80 L. but the guy that owned it prior to me. said the previous owner changed a few thing to suit himself. one of the things he did was move the mag to the front of the engine to gain easier access to the dynamo. This necessitated using n AJS mag chain cover he also drilled lightening holes in everything. So as it came with out paperwork or registration number I decided to revert to the original spec Matchless. Frame has been verified by the VMCC as of that marque. Just going through the process of getting an age related plate should be with me before Christmas.
