Thanks to Mike for sending in these pictures of his 1939 250cc Triumph 2H.  This bike was restored by his father in the 1970′s.

  1. I owned a 1937 2H the standard low priced version, the pictured version is a T 70 250cc the , other singles were T 85 350cc and T 90 500cc all where with a fancy silver paint job. The 2H
    had the basic Triumph paint color as on the Speed Twin etc.

    This machine was used for three years in trails competition rather successfully in both local and national events, even bettering the Triumph works team on occasion, this was as the works team were using 350cc vertical twins, rather heavy and the twins didn’t do well in the muddy conditions,even qualified and rode in the British Experts.

    I should say that I took the girder forks off and replaced them with a pair of Dowty telescopic forks as being supplied for Velocette at that time.

    • Ed, assuming that you are referring to the pictured version on this page, it is actually a 2H and not a Tiger 70. The non-original paintwork is slightly misleading!
