1930′s Yorkshire Scramble Pictures

Add Your Photos!

The picture below was kindly submitted by Tim Pearson. The shot includes his grandfather riding the Ariel RH 7143. His name was John (known as Jack) Stanton, from Hull, and the best guess is that the photo would have been taken somewhere on the Yorkshire Wolds in the 1930′s. Would you be able to identify the Ariel model from the photo?

One Response to “1930′s Yorkshire Scramble”

  1. RH – good registration for an old Ariel – appears to have two exhaust pipes (500 twin?)
Would not the venue be Post Hill, near Pudsey, a popular venue for pre-war off-road events.
Bradford Industrial Museum staged a vintage motor cycle exhibition around 2012 with some
archive shots of motor cycle sport locally.
