This was a little motor attachment for bolting to the rear wheel of a pedal cycle i.e. a sort of zimmer-frame for cyclists. I bought it years ago in a terrible condition with rust everywhere and spent a lot of time restoring it with a view to entering it in the Pioneer Run to Brighton. Luckily I came to my senses and avoided the risk of serious bodily trauma when it dawned on me that tho’ its as-found condition looked dire, all the working bits of the motor inside were still in as-new condition after about 70 years and “the penny dropped” so I sold it to buy an engagement ring and never regretted it.

I am researching for a local elderly man who has no PC or internet access but has an Auto Wheel which he is hoping to restore. Do you know what sort of carburettor was used on the Wall Auto Wheel? Are there any specialist clubs or sources of parts or is there any technical information available either on the internet or in book form?
Thank you for any help you may be able to give,

    Kind regards Terry

    • Hi Terry, In reply to your request for info on the Wall Auto Wheel I once owned I am very sorry but I sold it very many years ago and cannot now remember the carb used. I am also a very old man too (80 this year) although I still have my racing leathers hanging in our wardrobe along with helmet gloves and boots but my very last racing machine (a Velocette KSS/KTT) was also sold. I can still fit in my leathers, though! Other bikes I raced were a 125cc Ducati Monza and a BSA plus a 500cc Scrambler == Those were the days (the 1950s and 60s). Keep the flag flying! All the best, Arthur (A.J.) West.
