Looks like it could be 1932-1934

The Head is clearly Aluminium and non radial and the high level pipes with knobbly tyres says “Sports”. This could have been a Sports Special that has been slightly “Ulsterised” or vice versa. The other Seán Ó Maoildeirg cought my eye. My dad of the same name bought a new Special in 1932 from a dealer named Sharkey in Castlederg, Co Tyrone. It now lives in Newtownards, Co Down and looks like new.

  3. It’s a late 30′s ulster, of type used in ISDT. prepared by works for riders like Len Hall and Dr Galloway. Reputedly 100 mph machines, they used magnesium crank cases and gearbox shells.good looking and fast – would have sold like hot cakes after the war !
