Picture kindly submitted by Arthur Lawn.  This is his 1971 Kreidler 50cc racing machine based on the Van Veen world championship winning machine.  The specification is: size – 50cc s/c water cooled disc valve induction 6 speed gearbox dry clutch max revs 16000 b.h.p.- around 18 max speed – 110 to 120mph Why is it my wife never lets my bikes in the house?  I have enough trouble persuading her to let me keep them in the garage!!

  1. My cousin raced one of these about 1972-73 and it was unbelievably noisy, even on a
tickover it tore your eardums apart but it was a very nice noise and a lovely-looking
bike but so small and flimsy tyred. He sold the bike off and went into Hillman Imp-
engine sidecars next. They were noisy, too. Happy days which inspired me into a long
love affair with motorbikes when I was old enough for a licence.
