My bike is a 1972 AMF Harley Davidson SS350 single cylinder fourstroke.
In 1960 Harley bought 50% of the Italian m/cycle company Aermacchi because they wanted a ready made range of lightwieghts to compete against the ever growing threat of the Japanese manufacturers. The bikes were badged as Aermacchi Harley Davidsons until 1969 when AMF (American Machine & Foundry) took control of Harley, they then bought the remaining 50% of Aermacchi & rebadged the bikes as AMF Harley Davidson.
The bikes continued to be produced in the original Aermacchi factory at Varese in Itay until fourstroke production ceased at the end of 1974 but two stroke engined bikes remained until the late 70′s.

Many thanks to Roy Yearsley for these pictures of his Harley Davidson Aermacchi.
