Thanks to Phil Heath for this picture of his 1920 Gentleman’s Sporting 31/2 HP.  The bike was found in a shed in Florida by his son. He decided he was too busy to restore it, as it was in very bad repair so he sent it to Phil. It took two years to restore in the 1980′s, with an engine rebuild, a new set of gears, and all cycle parts being restored.  Phil has since ridden it many thousands of miles with only two breakdowns, both his own fault – magneto failure and a rear sprocket bearing seizure. The bike was registered at Chester but he has no idea when it arrived in the USA. There were fittings on it for a RH sidecar. You may notice the Honda front brake to cope with modern traffic conditions. Removed in two mins with one bolt. The stirrup is still in place and when adjusted will play tunes on the spokes! The paintwork is mostly original but embellished with gold lines; not original.
