Offered for sale here is my 1948 Douglas 350 cc Mark 3 motorcycle.

As can be seen from the photographs, she is not a Show Shiny restoration; she is as original as any such machine currently available on the market!

I stress that she is NOT a so-called “BARN FIND”, she is up and running and ready for the next sunny day. She has been with me for many years now and is no stranger to the odd “Run in the Sun”.

So Ride or Restore? I will leave that decision to the lucky next keeper.

Not too common these days, these early post war Dougies offer an insight into some of the innovative engineering being introduced in the post war period. The front and rear suspension is clearly not your bog standard teles and plunger rear then being offered by other manufacturers!

Additionally it is commonly accepted that the opposed twin cylinder engine layout produces the smoothest power band of any similar sized machine, after all, B.M.W. bought in a Dougie (along with a British A.B.C. flat twin) for evaluation before settling for this engine layout!

O.K. if she is this precious, why is she up for sale? Well sadly I am the victim of old age and a recent stroke so motorcycling is no longer the pleasure it once was.

I don’t intend to settle for her standing gathering dust, she deserves an occasional gallop in the sunshine to keep her young and healthy.
