At the outbreak of WWII, the motorcycle racer, broadcaster and journalist, Graham Walker, gace this Rudge to his friend Bert Coffin from Preston in Yeovil.

In September 1942, Bert rode the bike to Taunton where he registered it to obtain petrol rationing coupons. This was the only time he rode it. Towards the end of 1942, Lew Coffin took the bike for a test ride. On this return, the bike was parked in Bert’s garage and has never been started since.

In 2009, a complete restoration was undertaken by Bert’s son, Malcolm Coffin of Shaftesbury.
