1950s Simplex Pictures

Many thanks to Kim Reeves for this picture. It was taken in the early 50′s. It’s a picture of her grandfather and uncle when she was a child. Her grandad passed away earlier this year before she even knew he used to ride and she didn’t really get a chance to talk bike’s with him.  Thanks also to John Nickerson for some input on the make of the bike.   He is not 100 percent certain but thinks it is a Simplex. Simplex was sold by Sears, Roebuck & Co. and was around at the same time as the Whizzer. The difference is that the Simplex was sold as a complete machine and the Whizzer was a clip on motor and fuel tank which was mounted, for the most part, on heavy duty Schwinn bicycles.
