Many thanks to James Blundell for this great picture. It shows three top sand racers in 1931, Jack Carr on the left, LA Reid (we belive) in in the middle and James’ father, Jim Blundell on the right. Jim Blundell raced Chater Leas and Nortons and was on the Norton team at some point – in sand racing events mostly around Southport, and other popular venues, and raced with Jack Carr, who James met once as a little boy. He also raced in the TT – not sure what year – but came off in the trials).
Jim sadly died 4 years ago and James has just discovered that a number of medals were sold by his mother a few years ago. James would dearly love to trace these medals so if anyone has any information on where they may be, please let us know.
James has started putting together a website www.jamesblundell.com together to document his racing and other related information – ie photos of events and listings of the races over the country.
