I was Vic Allan’s mech from schooldays and have been developing high performance
Engines ever since, Allan Smith was just up the road in Alford.
Jock smith used to test the Manx down as far as skene, we would bike down to the road and miss him.
I intended to spend September in Scotland but got covided out.
If Geordie is still in tomatin or wherever I would like him,
What made me look for him I saw a photo of me and him as spare pricks at Robbie Allan’s wedding
We had some fun then,he could sure ride a Manx to the max.always bad luck at IOM
Those were the days, and we were all trying to burn them as fast as possible!!

Remember Geordie well, he raced all the Scottish venues in the Sixties, Gask, Kirkcaldy, Errol and Chaterhall. Plus south of the border Oulton Park, Caldwell, Scarborough and Silloth. Geordie was always in the leaders pack then, one hard rider. Like Bill Lawson I have been in the USA for close to 50 years, and have lost most of the friends I raced with, Roy Graham and Dennis Gallagher. The one event that I remember George at was when he dropped his 350 Manx at the corner before the harbour in Port Stewart during the North West 500, it went on fire and not much was left of the bike, frame, forks and wheels! '66 I think. He also raced in the Manx GP in the Sixties '64, '65 for sure.
