I can’t find the actual scale/size of the factory was build in jessup close dose anyone remember how the layout built and how far dose it reach? They cut of half of Burrage Grove.. Thanks

Probably a long time out of date now, but I was also fascinated by the photo of the old Matchless/AJS works in Plumstead so much so that I too wanted to trace exactly where it was. From my searches I can now understand the factory location. Sadly it appears I cannot attach photos so a description is all I can offer. If one stood to the side of the current Foxlfield Primary School building looking north, that is just about where the original photographer stood to take the factory shot. All the roads and side streets in the shot looking down the hill are gone. The factory was across the railway line between the still existing Heronsgate Primary school, and the top end of Maxey Road where it joins Plumstead Road. It’s the area now known as Jessop Close. I hope that’s enough detail for you to place it, but contact me if you’d like a copy of the location map I found.

This would be Maxey Road……my grandmother I.R.Fowle owned a greengrocer and fruiterer’s shop at number 37 and evans place by the railway bridge. The corner shop in the photo was her first one.
Burrage Grove ran the length of Collier’s. At the end of Collier’s was my Primary school.

The factory was actually in neighbouring Plumstead rather that adjacent Woolwich, but as the site was huge and touched upon various local wards it makes no real difference.
There were actually factories: one on Burrage Grove and one on Maxey Road.

I am trying to establish the exact location of the old AMC factory in Plumstead London. for a magazine article, Is there anyone that could help by way of old photos or a map, The original site was built over and is now a housing or industrial estate.If usable there will be credit mention.
