Hi Stephen, I have been trying to track down my own 1982 XR500 to no avail. I bought mine in October 1982 it seems like for 1600.00. The 83s were already in the showroom, but I didn’t care for the new twin carbs. I had my 500 for about nine years. I regret selling it. I have started riding a dirt bike again(much slower and less ability) with my son. He loves to ride and is so interested in the sport. I am trying to put a collection together of the dirt bikes of mine and my brothers youth. The 82 was the last dirt bike I had. If you decide to sell the bike to me, it will not be ridden(except to keep it from freezing up in any way). Will be kept in climate controlled environment. If I ever chose to sell it, you would have first refusal. Even if you don’t choose to sell it to me, that is one beautiful restoration and it makes me happy knowing their is still an 82 XR500R out there. Look forward to hearing from you.
