I have a 59 TCS that hasn’t run in 40 years I’m in the process of lubricating everything prior to rotational checks, cleaning and carb rebuild. Mag still Sparks but a good cleaning and lubricating of bearings and point system also seems in order. Can anyone help me with setting up initial timing?

I have a `59 Typhoon and understand that Monobloc was the standard carby. Rare bird a `59 since only 20 or 21 total were imported; all through Copper Motors in West Hollywood, CA. The right side oil tank, single down tube and tin primary are the easy tells.

To the best of my limited knowledge the `59 Typhoon G80TCS came with a Monobloc. Just purchased an original appearing bike with a 389/50 on it and a right side oil tank. Oil tank moved to left side next year, 1960, to make room for GP carb and air filter.

I received some very kind and helpful info through the AJS and Matchless club Aust from people in Tucson stating that specs are the same for 500 I think ther is room for Experimentation Have picked up a Dominator which is taking up all my free time looking forward to getting back to the Typhoon Phil

I have just purchased a 59 model in stunning condition. I own other singles and know this one can go better.As I believe they came standard with GP type carb and mine is fitted with a concentric some minor tuning is required.Also not well documented is ignition timing for Typhoon.I consider myslf lucky to own this bike as I also believe ther are not many about and that production was limited and most if not all went to the U.S. Phil (Australia)

just pulled from a barn a 1961 Matchless G80TCS all original that runs that is in need of a full cosmetic restoration it is the the competion model short drive side shaft with no altenator and the double loop frame that is for sale (make offer)
