This invaluable video takes you through the total strip and rebuild
of Triumph pre-unit engines from 1946 to 1962.
The results speak for themselves. With the aid of this video
a novice mechanic should be able to achieve similar results. The
techniques shown in this video can be applied to most Triumph
500cc & 650cc pre-unit engines from 1946 to 1962. You will
need additional information - tappet clearances, torque settings
etc for your particular model from the relevant workshop manual.
Hughie Hancox started at Triumph in 1953 as a trainee fitter
in the Service Repair Shop, moved to the experimental dept in
1958 and then in 1960 he became a Triumph Tester. He remained at
Triumph right up to 1973 when he decided to leave. However,
it was on his first day in the Service Reoair Dept in 1953 he
was told by his manager that "there are three ways to do
the job; the right way, the wrong way, and the Triumph way"

This video is not intended to replace the traditional workshop
manual. Rather, it supplements the manual by demonstrating the
methods and techniques that cannot be effectively conveyed with
the printed word or with still photographs. An appropriate workshop
manual is still recommended to provide the technical information
and specifications relating to your particular model.
