The Essential Buyers Guide
Triumph Bonneville

The Essential Buyers Guide - Triumph Bonneville
by Peter Henshaw

ISBN: 978-1-84584-134-8

As it says on the cover, “Don’t buy a Bonneville without this book!” This is a no-nonsense straightforward guide to buying a Bonnie. With the current high prices being asked for Triumph Bonnevilles, it’s worth taking all the advice you can get to make sure that you get value for money (although with some Bonnies going for over £10,000, value for money isn’t necessarily a priority for some buyers!).

As the book limits itself to a single make, it is able to provide some really useful specific detail on some of the points to look out for. It offers a very useful summary of the relative merits of Bonnevilles throughout the years of its manufacture. Top Bonneville restorer Hugh Brown of The Bike Shed has helped with some of the advice, helping to ensure the book is accurate throughout. The Vital Statistics section contains a handy year by year list of the specification changes as well as the engine and frame numbering system used right through from the first T120 in 1959 to the end of production in 1988.

But is it a book for experienced classic bikers? Well, some of the information is quite generic and may seem obvious to bikers of some experience, but there are also a lot of hints, tips and reminders that are not necessarily so apparent. Certainly, there was information in the book that was news to me, and would definitely have been useful if I was considering a purchase
