FRAUD WARNING
If you leave your email address as the contact for your advert, you are likely to receive many emails which you should treat with caution. I haver tried to stop this by making visitors to the site register so that they can contact the seller of a bike. TPlease forward any email you are unsure about to me and I will evaluate and if necessary delete the user responsible.
Several advertisers have received responses to their Ads that offer high prices, where the seller is to cash a large check from a third party, for more money than the agreed-upon price, deduct the price of the item for sale, and forward the remainder of the money with the sale item to the buyer. These offers appear to be FRAUDULENT. The scam is that the large cashiers check turns out to be a forgery; unfortunately this does not become known until after the balance is forwarded to the "buyer". You may be surprised that a bank that has cashed a "bearer instrument" cashiers check WILL reclaim its funds if the check is a forgery. Cashiers checks are not as secure as many of us had always presumed. So please be careful in accepting any offer that seems "off" or "too good to be true", any overseas transactions, and any sale that requires a seller to advance or refund any amounts paid. As always, the Vintagebike.co.uk Marketplace is merely a listing service and cannot assume any liability of any kind for any of the advertisements or transactions that flow from them. If you are in any doubt, please ignore any emails that you are not sure of. My advice would be to only deal with people who express a genuine interest in your bike, and do not let the bike go until you have cleared funds in your account. Here are some examples of the type of emails that you may receive: hello, My name is spencer, i came accross your advertized ( 1961 AJS Model 8 350cc) i dont know if it is still for sale but if nfortunatelly me is still for sale i will want you to give me your asking price for it and you should provide me the picture and explain the comdition to me NB: you should take note that i will be paying you by certify us cashier cheque Hello, i am James Turner from Holland, i am writting in responce to your 1961 AJS Model 8 350cc advert placed for sale, i am interested in buying it and i will like to know if the condition for the 1961 AJS Model 8 350cc is okay and i will also like to know your condition for sale. i want you to forward me the pics and i will also like to know your last offering price for it.
