1968 Triumph 350cc DOHC |
||
|
This is the very last bike designed by Edward Turner. He retired from BSA-Triumph in 1964 but designed this machine for Triumph on a freelance contract in 1968. Designed to compete with the performance Japanese 300 and 350cc machines, it was unlike any other Triumph twin. It has inclined cylinders and twin overhead camshafts. Primary drive by chain is on the right hand side and the kickstarter is on the left. This prototype reached an amazing 112mph on test but was plagues by crankshaft failures and the frame was thought to be too flimsy. Taken at the 2008 Classic Motor Show. |
