Pete Woollett in the 1950s

Thanks to Richard Sharp for this picture of Pete Woollett in the 1950 with his Watsonian outfit. Richard is the young lad n the right.

Richard's father was Jim Sharp. Jim was based in Sevenoak, Kent and was heavily involved in the setting up of Brands Hatch in the 1940's when he was Chairman of the OWLS MOTOR CLUB who along with three other clubs started the first organised motorcycle races at the now famous circuit. It started as a grass track venue before the track was laid. He was in partnership with Pete Woollett back in the 1950's and acted as mechanic, manager etc etc during Pete's sidecar career. This took them all over the UK and Europe. He then started sponsoring local riders in the 1970's and 1980's in road racing (Dave Ackhurst, Rob Pryor to name just two) and a rather famous speedway rider got support in his early days, right up to his 2nd place in the World Championship - Gordon Kennett.
