The home of Vintage and Classic Motorcycles.....

1928 (?) Standard

Many thanks to Jeffrey Miller for this picture. It shows his wife Trish's Great Uncle Alfred Friedel. He was born around 1900 in Germany. The photo was taken sometime around 1930 in Kahl/Main Germany. The motorcycle is a German built Standard. Alfred's expression says it all.

Jerry's family believe that he was killed on this motorcycle at 33 years of age.

Based on the photo here htwww.autogallery.org.ru/k/s/standardBSS500_Hannes.jpg of a 1928 Standard BSS 500 ((supersport), (MAG, 1-cyl, 4 stroke, OHV, 496cc, 20/22hp)), you can see lots of similarities with Alfred's bike, as well as some differences.  Perhaps someone out there can identify exactly which model we have here.
