This superb machine, on display at the National Motorcycle Museum, is one of the most successful racing motorcycles of all time.  It was built in 1927 by the Brooklands rider Bill Lacey who nickel-plated the frame to ensure that any cracks that developed could easily be spotted.  Lacey's greatest achievement was to raise the classic hour world record to 103.3 mph and became the first rider to cover 100 miles in an hour.
