1954 Indian Firearrow |
||
|
Thanks to Gary Millar for these pictures of a 1954
Indian Fire Arrow. The Indian Fire Arrow, was manufactured by Royal Enfield,
who was commisioned by the Indian Motorcycle Co.to build these bikes for
Export to America. It was hoped at the time that these little machines
would help save the ailing American Indian Motorcycle company that was
on the verge of
liquidisation, as in the early 50's the only remaining machine produced by the company was the massive Indian Chief. These little fire arrows were based on the Royal Enfield 250cc "Clipper", and according to records, show this is one of only 2 known survivers in England. Shortly after this attempt, a Yorkshire firm by the name of Brockhouse produced the Indian Brave with their own engine - however, these bikes proved to be very unpopular & unreliable, and production only lasted a couple of years. |
