thanks to Federico Rodriguez of Buenos Aires, Argentina for these fascinating
pictures. They show his father being presented the motorcycle by ex
President General Juan Domingo Peron in 1955. His father appears
in two photos, in one he is on the bike alone and in the other one is shown
just at the same moment President Juan Domingo Peron was giving him the
bike - his father appears at the right of Peron (with a cap) in a dark suit. He was given the bike because in 1955 entered the 1955 Holland Olympics and once he returned to Buenos Aires, Peron awarded him the bike for his remarkable performance during this sports event.The Argentinean team was formed by 36 men, his father was the leader; the rest of team was awarded with 35 Siambretta (other bikes). As you can see from the last photo, the bike is still in lovely condition. |
