1963 Ducati 200cc |
||
|
Thanks to Howard Skwer of California for this picture
of his second bike. In New York, in 1963, insurance costs were much lower
with a 200cc cut off in displacement. Ghost Motorcycle, in Port Washington,
New York, made special arrangements with Ducati to produce this bike.
After a few months, he moved to Los Angeles, California, and had the bike
re-crated and shipped out to him, thus the damage on the corner of the
seat. California did not allow motorcycles on the Freeways unless they
had a minimum of 20 horse power. The 200 only had 18 horse power, but
because the police had no listing of this bike in their listings, he always
got away with Freeway riding on my way to the beach. Unfortunately, 18
horse power wasn't enough power to hold speed on mildly increasing elevations
on some Freeways, which is why he sometimes got pulled over by the police.
