1928 AJS 350cc

Now here is an interesting mystery to be solved!  Many thanks to Audrey Aarons for this picture of her father, Alf Aarons (b.1908 West Australia, d.2005 Victoria, Australia), on an AJS motorcycle on the back of which is written: 1928 Land Speed Record, 100+mph AJS 350 single Lake Pircalily* W.A. Rider Alf Aarons.

* Pircalily has many spellings, sometimes as Perkolilli

Her father had always claimed that this was an Australasian record. He was an apprentice motor engineer at the time, working for his uncle (Ernie Watkins) who sold and maintained motorbikes in Perth and Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

Can anyone out there verify this interesting piece of history.  If so, please email me and I will forward your information to Audrey who I know will be thrilled to hear.
